If your application runs on a Sun SPARC 5 or 20, Ultra 1, 2, or AX, it will run on the WorkServer without modification - using the same OS, the same device drivers, and the same SBus peripherals. High Availability middleware works invisibly to keep your application running. The WorkServer makes it easy to quickly turn new ideas into robust telecommunications services.

Advanced Intelligent Network Applications The WorkServer is ideal for Advanced Intelligent Network applications. It brings the computing power of SPARC to the Central Office with complete support for a wide variety of SBus I/O cards for SS7, ISDN, X.25, and T1 connectivity, and since the WorkServer is built to work with today's OAM&P requirements, it is simple to incorporate into your existing infrastructure. The WorkServer is excellent as an Intelligent Peripheral (IP) or Service Control Point (SCP), or Service Creation Environment (SCE).

Internet Services With Sun's proven success on the Internet, the WorkServer is a natural choice for delivering Internet services in a telecommunications environment. The WorkServer can be configured with the right hardware and software to provide everything required for Internet services. Applications like email, USENET, FTP, DNS, and WWW all run native on SPARCengines from Sun Microsystems, and industry standard hardware, such as modems and routers, is easily integrated into the WorkServer system. Packaged together with remote maintenance, alarming, and power-cycling, the WorkServer is the simplest, most robust Internet platform available.
